Thoughts Aside

The passion for programming can drive people crazy. A good programmer can manage to make a lot of money by going freelance. Courses like 70-293 can only help in improving their skills even further along with certifications like 642-901. A programmer can market their skills through their site the hosting for which is fairly cheap given that it is taken through easycgi. Also there is a need appropriate search engine marketing. Other ways to get the word out there is through the use of internet phones and implementing email marketing. A major booster can be entering and standing out in the Google Summer of Code competition.

KBFX Tom-Plugin

The Task Oriented Menu is one of the main topic of my Google Summer of Code project. After some sleepless nights... I was able to develop the [*]'tom-plugin' with basic features.

You can checkout the video of demo tom-plugin here...

The plugin will create the 'Task Oriented Menu' by loading an XML.. this XML contains all the item groups and details, which can be edited using a GUI/TOM editor.

Will come up with more, soon.. :-) back to code..

Finally Done Something !

Though GSoC coding officially started on 28th May, I was able to start my part after 1st of June.. Yeah I had some great! exams. Now my first year finals are over, So as usually I thought it would be the fun time, but yes.. as usually it won't. :-)

The next thing was to submit the group work on Internet Programming module. Yay! after a long night we finished it.

Then I started coding for GSoC with a huge delay.. Oh! I really worried about my knowledge on Qt.. It wasn't that good.. so started learning Qt. After few days I got back to the KBFX ( My GSoC project ) code base... mmm everything seemed fine..

My first task was to implement keyboard support. So I began with the method which was written their already for capture the key events. At the beginning it wasn't that much fun.. coz my implementations had lot of bugs... ;) So it was time to think about a logic to improve the keyboard navigation properly... after a long day I came up with a great solution/logic which was able to navigate through menu items smoothly.. and yeah! no bugs so far.. :-D

Check out this video of keyboard navigation.

In the meantime I developed a new Google Desktop Gadget which is called 'Screen Picker'. It uses an COM dll and also it's the first Open Source gadget in my collection.

Hope to come with more GSoC experiences in the future.. he he..
Happy Hacking.!

The day almost here...

I'm little nervous at the moment, so I thought to write something on the blog. Google will publish the selected student list for Summer of Code this year shortly. mmmm... no one can say what is going to be happened [ except them :D ], but many proposals will be getting rejected as well as around 600 proposals will be going through.

When I was a child I always dreamt about a great future with lot of researches and developments. But still I couldn't achieve that goal and I'm not satisfying with my current achievements. :)
May be I've just started doing that. he he

Time flies... The day almost here... I hope my proposal will also be accepted, so then this will the Golden Era of my life...

Cheers !
